PNEUMATIC CONVEYING – Yogyakarta

In this course, a review of gas/solids flow fundamentals is presented, including common pneumatic conveying problems, modes of transport in a pipeline, and how scale-model tests can be used to effectively design or evaluate systems that are operating poorly. Conveying line solids feeders are reviewed, as well as a discussion of proven pipeline layout rules and elbow/bend selection criteria.
One of the most important material-handling techniques in the chemical industry , cement Factory, Fertilizer Factories, Flour Mill are the movement of material suspended in a stream of air over horizontal and vertical distances ranging from a few to several hundred feet. Materials ranging from fine powders through 6.35-mm, (d-in) pellets and bulk densities of 16 to more than 3200 kg/m3 (1 to more than 200 lb/ft3) can be handled.

OBJECTIVES:

Understand the advantages of pneumatic conveying systems over mechanical conveying
Understand the characteristics, limitations and fundamental design differences of dilute phase, dense phase and air activated gravity conveying
Understand the design approach and typical specifications of positive pressure, vacuum and combination pull-push dilute phase conveying systems
Understand the factors influencing the performance of pneumatic conveying systems and learn how conveying rates are affected by distances
Understand the terms “saltation” and “choking” as applicable to pneumatic systems
Learn by example – the methodology for selection of prime mover for a dilute phase pneumatic conveying systems
Gain understanding of pneumatic conveying system components such as fans, airlocks, separators, piping and filters
Learn how to estimate pressure drop in dilute phase conveying system

Flow properties and hopper design/troubleshooting
Bulk solid feeders – screws, belts, rotary valves
Fine powder handling phenomena
Review of flow properties test report; silo design example
Common segregation mechanisms for powders and solids
Flow aid devices; transfer chute design
Introduction, modes of conveying; types of systems
Fundamentals of gas/solids flow; pressure loss calculations
Component selection and system design
Dense phase conveying; system troubleshooting

DESKRIPSI

Hydraulic and pneumatic equipment is the conductor of the equipment or vehicle power using liquid fluid (hydraulic) or gaseous (pneumatic). Hydraulic equipment systems generally use oil as a vehicle for power conductors while air is used in pneumatic systems. Power generated by the two systems can be used for various purposes such as to encourage the actuator. In general, the system consists of hydraulic and pneumatic pressure generator (pump for the hydraulic system or the compressor for pneumatic systems), piping, control valves (control valve) and actuators. This course provides basic knowledge and application of hydraulic and pneumatic systems so that the participants understand the basics of construction, maintenance and operation of the way.
